Member of Parliament for the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba constituency in the Savannah Region and deputy ranking member of Works and Housing Committee of Parliament, Hon. Andrew Dari Chiwitey has as the holy month of Ramadan made a donation of 150 bags of sugar to the Muslim community to support them carry-out their month-long fasting.
The donation is in his bid to support Muslims undergoing spiritual cleansing during the period, considered as one of the pillars in the Islamic calendar.
Presenting the items on April 21, 2021, Hon Andrew said the gesture was in support of the Muslim community as they embark on the month of fasting and prayer.
The donation he said was one of many ways of supporting the community and pledged his continued support and assistance to them anytime the need arises.
He asked Muslims in the constituency to pray for the constituency, the country and leaders at all levels so they can give off their best for the people.
“Ramadan in Islam is the period where Muslims fast and ask for purity. It is also the time when Muslims pray for God’s intervention in the activities of men in the District. So I came to present these items to them to support and facilitate their spiritual activity and ask for prayers for the development of the constituency” Hon. Andrew noted.
