The Most Rev Bishop of the Domongo Catholic Diocese Peter Paul A. Yelezuome, has expressed gratitude to the St John’s Duisburg- Hamburg from Germany, the chiefs and people of Bole for helping to build a beautiful polyclinic for the area.
This was realized after the Martyrs of Uganda Health Centre at Bole has been upgraded to a polyclinic status.
The project started on 6th July, 2021and finally commissioned its OPD on September 15 ,2023 at a new site on the Kumasi highway near Kilampobile.
In a welcome address at the commissioning, the in charge of the facility, Mr. Sutaa Francis gave a brief history of the Martyrs of Uganda health center.
He said the health centre was established in 1963 as an outreach centre where health workers who were “Rev. Sisters” traveled from Damogo to Bole to offer health services to the people.
The health centre according to Mr Sutaa later became a mobile Clinic in 1966, offering diverse services for the people of Bamboi through to Sawla.
The health services were later extended to Tuna, Gindabor, Gbenfu, Sonyor and many other communities in the then Bole District which was later divided into two; Bole and Sawla-Tuna-Kalba Districts.
Mr. Sutaa reiterated that the primary aim for the establishment of the Martyrs of Uganda Health Centre was to provide basic health needs for the people.
He assured the people of Bole and beyond that the Martyrs of Uganda Polyclinic will provide more quality and veriety of health services for them.
He therefore called for the support of everyone.
The Martyrs of Uganda Health Centre currently offer 24 hour OPD services, laboratory, mental health, school health, HCT/PMTCT, health education/promotion, dispensary and detention among other services.
According to Mr Sutaa, after attaining a polyclinic status, plans are still under way to upgrade the facility again to a specialist facility that will cater for special cases that would have been referred outside Bole.
In the light of this, Mr Sutaa called on all benevolent individuals, groups and organizations for support to put up more facilities in the polyclinic.
A special appeal was also made to the Paramount Chief and president of Bole Traditional Council; Bolewura Sarfo Kutuge-Feso I to leave a legacy at the polyclinic by building a facility there which would name after him(Bolewura).
The program was well attended by representatives from the Bole District Chief Executive, the Bole Traditional Council, the Bole District Health Directorate, management and staff of Martyrs of Uganda Health Centre and some opinion leaders.
