A portion of the Bole-Wa road at Doli, in the Bole District, is cut off after the Doli dam overflowed its banks following a downpour in the area on Sunday dawn.

Speaking in an interview with Yagbon News, Mr Yawusa Mohammed, a resident of Mankuma who got stranded, said they feared the road might break further in the event of another heavy rain.

He, therefore, appealed to the authorities, especially the Ghana Highway Authority to intervene by fixing the damage caused by the rain to avert any further disaster.

“As we speak now, no vehicle or human can access the road”.

“We are only hoping and praying that the necessary authorities in charge of this road will be swift in fixing this mess”, he said.

He attributed the disaster to the filled up of the Doli dam which has over flown its banks therefore collapsing portions of the bridge.

He also said the lack of gutters along the main road in the Doli community to control the flow of rainwater had posed a serious challenge to some residents.

He said due to the lack of gutters, water flowed into the homes of the people, especially those along the road, and as a result the walls of their buildings were gradually being chopped off by rainwater and appealed to the authorities for help.

Mr Mohammed also lamented about the frequent occurrence of accidents on the road due to the numerous pot holes on the road and hence appealed to authorities to fix the pot holes which are claiming the lives of citizens.
