The Savannah Regional Director of Communications, Mr Issah Mohammed, has charged media practitioners in the Savannah Region to help promote the region to the rest of the country and the world at large in order to attract investors to the Region.
According to him the kind of stories that are being written and published about the region can affect how people view it.
He admonished the media to desist from publishing negative stories and rather concentrate more on publishing positive stories that will lift the image of the region and also attract investments into the Region.
Interacting with management and staff of Yagbon radio on October 16, 2021, on his media tour in the region Mr Issah, said “if on a daily basis the stories we ourselves are publishing out of here to the rest of the country and the world at large are gory stories; stories of insecurities; stories of inability to do anything positive in these areas, if these are the kind of stories we are telling, we will not be complimenting the efforts at attracting investments into these areas”.
Mr Issah noted that the government and other institutions have been doing their best to attract investors into the communities.
He therefore, posited that the media also has a responsibility to compliment the efforts of the government and these institutions by publishing positive stories about the infant Savannah region to attract investors to boost its growth.
While acknowledging the role of media practitioners in holding leaders accountable and criticising the ills in the society, he appealed to them to also “promote our society so that the true potentials of the Savannah region can be fulfilled”.
Mr Issah believes such collective efforts can improve the wellbeing of the region.
The Director of communications commended management and staff of Yagbon radio for championing professionalism and using their platform to engage all stakeholders in the national discourse.
He urged the workers to continue to engage government and provide feedback on issues of national concern.
Mr Issah called for a greater collaboration between the media in the region and all other stakeholders including government to promote the development agenda of the region.
The manager of Yagbon radio, Mr Ibrahim Wande Forgor used the opportunity to thank Mr Issah Mohammed and his team for the visit and promised that the station will always uphold to journalistics ethics in doing its works.
