A Senior Communicator of the opposition National Democratic Congress in the Bole-Bamboi constituency, Mr Augustine Jimah, has declared his intention to contest the party’s constituency secretary slot when it opens nominations later in 2022.
According to him, his decision was informed by the numerous calls on him from the rank and file of the party to serve in that role.
In a statement issued to declare his intention, the aspiring constituency secretary describes himself as an unrepentant proud card bearing member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of over two decades in good standing.
He is a trained professional teacher with good appreciation of data analysis, research, and had worked in the constituency in three (3) consecutive presidential and parliamentary elections as member of the constituency campaign task force in 2012, 2016 and 2020, campaign research, spokesperson for Bole-Bamboi in the last general elections and member of the communication team for a decade.
According to him, he had toured the entire One Hundred and Fifteen (115) polling stations or branches in the constituency and have a very good appreciation of the constituency.
“On regional front, I have also served as a member on the Savannah Regional Research and Communication Committee for the National Democratic Congress (NDC)”, he stated.
My experience as stated above through my association with NDC over the years is quite colossal which i shall be bringing onboard to reposition the Bole-Bamboi Constituency Secretariat to operate effectively to bring absolute potency for party advancement and cohesion, he added.
He stressed that in July 2018, he offered himself for elections as the Constituency Secretary but was unsuccessful.
“Having done the necessary evaluation of my strengths and weaknesses, self-observation and broad consultation, I AUGUSTINE JIMAH have therefore decided to give myself up to our kingmakers for election as the Constituency Secretary once again when our party nominations are opened”, he noted.
According to him party internal elections is the only democratic process of putting in place party structures, it is also one activity that has the tendency of creating factions and disunity when not handle fairly or properly.
“Having this in mind, I shall campaign devoid of name-calling or character assassination, the NDC as a corporate entity of which I am a shareholder (member) I have the accrue right to contest any internal elections of the party, pursuant to this am not contesting out of abhorrence or reprisal but a call to duty”, he indicated.
