The Chief Imam for Bole, Alhaji Mohammed Iddris, has organised an Islamic prayer to commission the newly renovated ancient mosque in Bole.

The prayer is to thank Allah and also pray for anyone in diverse ways who supported the renovation process.

On the 17th September 2023, there was a heavy downpour which affected the North- Western part of Ghana which led to the collapse of one part of the precious mosque.

The committee called for support of the media to protect the ancient legacy of the Islamic clan of Bole.

The call however drew the attention of prominent personalities from Bole to support the renovation including Hajia Sofia the Deputy National women’s Organiser cum National School Feeding Coordinator, Former President John Dramani Mahama the Flagbearer of NDC, Member of parliament for Bole Bamboi among others.

Addressing the media an elder of the Sakpari Clan of Bole Alhaji Malik Kamagtey said the mosque is built and owned by Allah.

To elaborate the point Alhaji Malik explained that is only Allah that will give an individual or group of people the vision, strength and resources to build it.

Narrating the historical antecedent of the mosque the son of a former Chief of Bole, said the great grandfather of Mahama who is believed to have reincarnated the name Mahama was the chief of Kiape protocol head of the Jaga gate of the Bole Traditional Area who aided the construction of the Mosque for the ancient Islamic clan of Bole.

He said for this reason former president Mahama had interest in the mosque in the reconstruction of it.

He said the construction took place eighty years before the invasion of Samora but it was well protected and has maintained it purity up to date.

So he prayed for everyone for their support to protect this edifice and called for a collaborative effort to maintaining it for the generations yet unborn.

Addressing the Islamic community during the ceremony ,an elder of the Bontusua Clan of Gonja Alhaji Shaibu Timtey said the existence of the mosque indicated that the people of Bole are originally Muslims.

He said this buttressed the point of an elder of the Quartara clan proposal that under no circumstances should the mosque be pulled down until thy Kingdom come.
