The District Chief Executive for Bole, Madam Veronica Alele Heming, has urged nurses to show empathy for the sick to aid their speedy recovery.
She said they needed to treat patients with dignity and respect, adding that their rights must be upheld.
Madam Veronica was addressing students of the Bole Midwifery and Nursing Training College during a matriculation ceremony to usher fresh men and women into the institution.
She said as health workers, their focus should be on helping to bring relief and comfort to the sick.
The DCE asked them to work hard to maintain high standards of professionalism. This, she said, was necessary to enable them to win public support, trust and confidence.
The Principal of the College Alhaj Haruna Tirah, speaking at the 2023/2024 academic year matriculation advised the students to take their studies seriously in order to be responsible citizens in the future.
Mr. Haruna urged the fresh nursing and midwifery students not to limit themselves only to the classroom but to plan to set standards for themselves so that they could achieve success in their destined profession.
He advised them to remain disciplined and stay away from bad friends, alcoholism, bad conduct, and other social vices that could ruin their future dreams.
The Principal of the College said the institution received 650 applicants but could offer 216 applicants’ admission .
He said 95 were offering diploma in public health while 121 were for certificate in nurse assistant preventive.
Mr Haruna urged the matriculates to be poised for an exciting academic experience by delighting in the pursuit of their studies to seek knowledge and truth to become competent professional nurses.
