Bole : NCCE organizes forum on violence extremism.

The office of the National Commission for Civic Education in the Bole District has organized a forum on violence extremism.

This is the second phase of the project focusing on prevention and containing violence extremism funded by the European Union.

The forum brought together youth groups, religious groups, the media among others.

speaking at forum the Bole Parish Priest of Martyrs of Uganda, Fr. Lazarus Annyereh, said to prevent conflict we must accept each others views and status in our societies.

Fr. Lazarus further added that violence extremists take advantage of vulnerabilities of an individual or community to lure them into their activities.

The Savannah Ragional Chairman of Peace Council said conflict is brought as a result social, material and cultural reasons.

“If we understand this interest by various parties we will not have conflict adding that cultural diversity is serious cause of conflict and urged the participants to accepted each others cultural values”.

Inspector Fuseini Adams of the Ghana Police Service said violence extremists are influencial and smart and it takes vigilance to identify them and their activities.

He urged the participants to take their personal security serious in other to report such individuals to the security officials.

He told the youth not to be enticed by the resources of these individuals in order to indulge in their activities as it will endanger their lives and their loved ones.

The Bole District Director for NCCE, Madam magrete Azumah Konlan, said the project has become necessary in Bole District as a result of it position with neighbouring Ivory coast.

She said the project is covering all five regions of the North including the three Bono regions totalling 75 Districts.

She said we should all be very concerned with the situation because the border countries around us has experienced some form of violence extremism.

She urged all to quickly report any issues regarding suspicious people to the appropriate agencies for prompt action.
