Gbampe, a farming community in the Bole District is appealing to the Government to build a bridge over a valley to link them up with the rest of the District.
For lack of a bridge, the community has for a long time been cut off from basic social and economic development opportunities, especially in the rainy season when the valley fills up and the people are unable to access other areas across it.
The people are therefore unable to use services such as health, education, business and local governance among other things for as long as the valley is full.
Members of the community have pointed out that the construction of a bridge to link Gbampe and Gbogdaa would facilitate the conveyance of farm products at a cheaper cost.
They contend that the construction of the bridge would ensure easy travel over a distance of just about 4 kilometres to Gbogdaa, through Bole .
The people have consequently resolved to construct a temporary bridge over the valley to link the two communities through self-help, while they wait for the government to construct a permanent one for them.
According to them every individual in the community was tasked to buy a bag of cement towards the construction of the bridge.
A farmer Mr Jobuutey, noted that a bridge was needed urgently over the valley to link farming communities to marketing centres and also to avoid foodstuffs from getting rotten in their farms.
A youth activist, Mr Aboo Benjamin, said besides the bridge being urgently needed to enhance trade in the area, it would also contribute to improved health care.
At the moment, he said, people who fell critically ill find it difficult accessing health more especially during the raining season.
He also mentioned that the only school in the community is always close down during the wet season because teachers cannot cross the valley to school which subsequently affects academic works.
