Hon. Andrew Dari Chiwitey, Member of Parliament and an aspiring NDC parliamentary candidate for the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba Constituency, has appealed to the delegates in the upcoming primaries to again, repose their confidence in him.
Hon. Andrew who is the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, said he had been tried and tested by the people, and they had the opportunity again to bring him back to continue what he has started .
“I have been there before on two occasions and know what it takes to further transform the Constituency for the better if given the nod,” he stated.
Speaking to the party members after successfully filing his nomination on Monday 20, 2023, Hon. Andrew described the euphoria at the party office, as good omen for the people, given his track record in the area of education, health, infrastructural development and grassroots party mobilization in the Constituency.
“Thank God I have successfully filed to contest in the upcoming primaries , and for me, this is the first sign of victory,” he said.
He maintained that working to improve the socio-economic lives of the people remained his priority.
Hon. Chiwitey advocated for a healthy campaign by all the parliamentary aspirants in the Constituency devoid of personal attacks, saying “we need to tell the constituents what we are capable of doing for their own good”.
He stated that the NDC in the constituency cannot afford to lose the Sawla- Tuna-Kalba seat and urged all the delegates to vote for an experienced person in himself to lead the party into elections 2024.
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) will hold its presidential and parliamentary primaries on Saturday, May 13, 2023, to elect a flagbearer and parliamentary candidates for the 2024 elections.
Per the timetable outlined by the party on Wednesday, January 18, interested individuals are expected to pick up nomination forms from the party’s website or its headquarters.
Filing of nominations will take place between Wednesday, February 22 to Friday, February 24.
The submission and filing of forms would also take place from Monday, March 20, 2023, to Wednesday, March 22, 2023.
Parliamentary timetable.
Picking up of forms will begin from Monday 22nd to 24th of February 2023 on the party’s website at a fee of GH¢5,000 and submission at a fee of GH¢40,000 from March 20 to March 22. Subsequently, vetting for the aspirants will be held from 27th to 29th March.
Presidential timetable.
Aspirants are expected to pick up forms from the party’s head office from the 22nd to 24th of February.
The party’s doors will be opened for submission of forms from the 20th to 22nd March 2023.
Vetting of the Presidential aspirants will also take place from 27th to 29th March.
