Duwa wurche commits to supporting brilliant-but-needy girls in her community.

The Queen mother of Duwa, in the Bole Traditional Area, who aims at promoting the education and overall academic excellence of brilliant but needy students, has reiterated her commitment to supporting brilliant- but- needy girls to excel in education.

She stated this during a tour to her community, Banda Nkwanta to engage leadership on matters of community development.

The Queen mother as part of the visit donated a total 216 packs of 9 boxes of sanitary pads to English and Arabic and St. Joseph R/C Junior High schools.

E/A JHS has a total of 51 girls with 26 in form one(1) and 25 in form (2) and hence received a total of five(5) boxes of yazz sanitary pads.

St Joseph R/C ha a total 44 girls with 23 in form 1 and 21 in form 2 also received 4 boxes of sanitary pads.

speaking during the community engagement, Zakaria Dogtey, a linguist at Bolewura’s palace said the Queen mother has a lot of connections and would like to help girl child education improve in the community.

He said to benefit from this benevolence the students should take their studies seriously.

The linguist said that, Banda-Nkwanta is a mining community where young men who has benefited from mining will lure girls into sleeping with them and for that matter girls should remember is temporal and not jeopardize their bright futures.

A student of E/A JHS Dawuda Khadija, on behalf of the school expressed gratitude for the kind gesture and pray for her to be able to do all that she has promise to offer for the community.

Speaking to Yagbon Radio Duwa Wurche, said the visit was to have a stakeholder engagement, visit the schools and to donate some sanitary pads to the schools.

she expressed joy for the warm reception and also pleaded with the girls to stop loitering about in the night and concentrate on their books.
