The Sales Manager of Data Bank, Wa branch, Mr Sonyiri Jeremiah and Mr San Lazarus Vurmah, an Internal Auditor at Baobab Micro Finance Company Limited have urged Ghanaians to cultivate the habit of savings to reduce poverty in our communities.

They said poverty had become endemic in many communities in Ghana because people overlooked the importance of savings.

According to them government cannot put money in people’s pocket to alleviate poverty as had been the expectation of some people.

They made these comments when they appeared on Yagbon radio weekly local program “Jaanuor Buur”, on the topic “financial planning and management and the importance of savings”.

They stressed the need for people to take their destiny into their own hands and save for their future, which they said is the best way for reducing poverty.

On starting a business, they advised that one needs to plan before starting a business.

“One does not need to have huge amounts of capital to start a business, but a clear plan”, they advised.

“Most Ghanaians lack networks and mentorship from successful business owners. That’s why the majority fail to raise startup capital,” said the Sales Manager of Data Bank, Wa branch.

Mr Jeremiah said it is important for Ghanaians to make clear plans before investing in any project.

“And after drawing a clear plan business starters should network with established businesses to learn how to run profitable ventures”, Jeremiah added.

Mr Lazarus also advised businessmen and women to improve their customer service delivery to increase their profit margins.
