The Ghana Audit Service is to establish an office complex in Bole in the Savannah Region to facilitate its activities at the District level.

This forms part of the Service’s accelerated programme to increase audit coverage of public institutions throughout the country and to ensure that auditing was conducted in a manner that would be free from any internal or external influence.

Mr Seidu Issifu, the Bole District Auditor announced this on January 15, 2022, at the handing over of a site for the construction of an office block for the Service .

He said the office when completed, would cater for the Bole and Sawla-Tuna-Kalba Districts and this would enable the Audit Service to fulfil its mandate to help fight corruption at the local government level.

Mr Seidu told Yagbon News in an interview that contracts had been signed for the first time in the history of the service when 19 buildings were being constructed at the same time.

He said the office buildings were important for the work of auditors, as they required privacy and independence to execute their mandate, without any outside influence.

According to him, the Ghana Audit Service has signed separate contracts with eight local companies to construct 16 district and three regional offices for the service.

“The construction of the office complex would help improve the work of the service in the District and across the country and make its reports more independent”, he said.

Places where the 16 District offices will be built include Asankragua, Half-Assini, Twifo-Praso, Apam, Asamankese, Kpando, Offinso and Dodowa.

The rest are Effiduase, Atebubu, Bibiani, Tepa, Wenchi, Bole, Kintampo and Navrongo.

The three regional offices will be constructed in Ho, Koforidua and Cape Coast.

The eight selected construction companies are Oku Falls Enterprises Limited, Rinacand Company Limited, Altimate Kristal Vision Limited and Matapo Limited.

Others are Instant Limited, TMJ Ventures Limited, Beksfel Construction Limited and Awinbehit Company Limited.

In the case of the Bole District, the project will be executed by Beksfel Construction Limited in 9 months time period.

Hon. Veronica Alele Heming, the Bole District Chief Executive speaking at the handing over ceremony noted that the construction of the building was timely, as it would facilitate the work of the personnel.

She noted that the facility would promote the proper financial control internally and externally and urged the staff of the Audit Service to be more committed to their duties.

She assured government agencies, departments and other non-governmental organisations of her willingness to give out more support for development projects in the District.

Present at the short but important gathering were the deputy northern regional auditor,Mr David Kwoyiri, the northern regional administrator of the service, Mr John Kofi Duplex, the District CHRAJ Director, the District engineer, physical planning and representative of the Bole District Chief Imam among others.
