The Member of Parliament (MP) for Dormaa-West Constituency in the Bono Region, Hon. VincentOppong Asamoah, has connected two communities to the national electricity grid under the Rural Electrification Project (REP) to boost social and economic activities of the people.

The beneficiary communities include; Bobokrom and Yaw Oppong.

The aforementioned communities located in the Asuopiri East Electoral Area of the Dormaa-West District are predominantly cocoa-growing areas.

The Rural Electrification Project was started by Hon.Vincent in 2016, but immediately the NDC government and himself lost power, the contractor stopped the project.

However, earlier this year, after recapturing the seat, Hon. Vincent, had to go and search for the contractor and personally paid the expenses involved for the contractor to complete the project.

The two beneficiary communities will be added to other existing e communities in the n District which had already been connected to the national grid by the lawmaker.

Speaking at a separate ceremony to commission the project, Hon. Vincent thanked God for protecting the contractor and offering them the opportunity to complete the project timely.

The Former Deputy Youth and Sports minister under the erstwhile John Mahama administration took the opportunity to advise the residents to make good use of the electricity brought to them for the first time.

“Now that we have light here I believe that the standard of education in this area will improve because pupils can now study at night under lights”, the MP noted.

He, therefore, appealed to his constituents to trust his leadership because other outstanding projects which have been pencilled down for execution in the Constituency would be tackled.

The residents who have been travelling to a far distance to charge their phones gave thanks to Hon. Vincent Oppong Asamoahfor connecting them to the national grid.

Meanwhile the MP on Monday 10th January, 2022, put a smile on the faces of 300 young women in his constituency when he enrolled them in various apprenticeship programs.

The MP had paid for the total cost of the apprenticeship fee for the girls.

Explaining the reasons behind the gesture, the MP said this was to reduce the burden on the girls’ parents while serving as motivation, inspiration and encouragement for them to secure gainful employment in society.
