Sawla Wura Abdulai Nugbaso and the District Chief Executive for the area Hon. Lawal Tamimu both planted trees to mark the celebration of Green Ghana Ghana initiative.

Speaking to the media Sawlawura Nugbaso said this is a wake up call for us to appreciate the relevance of the ecosystem and the need to protect it.

He encouraged the public to plant trees and echoed that when the “last tree dies the last man dies “.

Sawlawura added that Bolewura has being vocal about planting of trees and the need to support him, stating that is not one a day affair but should be an everyday activity.

The DCE for the area said government of Ghana is not resting until land degradation becomes a thing of the past.

Addressing fellow members of the District, he stated that as a government representative, he was duty bound to ensure that’s done stating Green Ghana is a government initiative considering the rate at which we have logged most trees in the district for charcoal and other uses.

Hon. Tamim said the adverse weather condition can be reversed if we keep to this program and make planting of trees an every practice.

He admonished individuals and institutions to take good care of the trees after transplanting.

Green Ghana is a project by government of Ghana by the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources to plant trees as a measure for Ghana’s Eco restoration.

Ghana is expected to plant 5 million trees under the project in a single year.
