Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District NHIA takes part in Green Ghana Initiative.

The Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District of the National Health Insurance Authority has on Friday June 11, 2021, planted 70 species of plants along the boundaries of their land in Sawla to support Government’s policy of greening Ghana.

Speaking to Yagbon News, the District Manager, Mr Mahama Sakara, said tree planting is a responsibility of evey citizen and therefore urged all to support the initiative of recovering the country’s lost vegetation cover.

He said we need trees in several ways and as we log trees we need to replace them and since the opportunity avail itself, we are duty bound to plant them.

He said the current degradation of our natural vegetation in the Savannah region is a wake up call for us to take the project serious to replace what we have lost.

He appealed to Government to maintain this project which will offer an opportunity to grow more trees in the country.

The Green Ghana Project was initiated by Government by under the Ministry of Lands and ynatural Resources to plant five million trees in a year which was launched nationwide today, June 11, 2021.
