Bolewura holds consultative forum on illegal logging, “galamsay” and commercial charcoal burning.

Paramount Chief of the Bole Traditional Area, Sarfo Kutugefeso l, has April 30, 2021, held a consultative forum in his traditional area on galamsey, Commercial Charcoal burning and illegal harvesting of wood amidst ban by the Savannah Regional House of Chiefs.

On illegal mining, in an address by Bolewura, he said all chiefs along the Black volta in the Bole Traditional Area should seize all equipment mining on the Black volta.

Bolewura said he is ready to implement any decision by the Savannah Regional House of Chiefs especially taking away titles of second time offenders of these activities in the area.

Savannah Regional House of Chiefs have banned commercial logging, charcoal burning and Galamsey with caution to chiefs of suspension as a first time offenders.

Bolewura said Government is yet to give these mining sites concession where our able young men will be employed attracting a lot of benefit to traditional council, District assembly and the youth.

Bolewura also stated that all paramountcys met in Accra and gave their backing to to make sure government succeeds in this fight to save this country.

A task force was formed with the DCE and the Police commander as chairman and vice respectively. Others included forestry commission, immigration, two reps from Bole Traditional Council and the registrar of Bole Traditional Council.

The task force are expected to close boarders of the Region and  Bole Traditional Area such that no one can smuggle into the communities and also make sure all galamsey activities are stopped.

Addressing the media, Madam Veronica Alele Hemeng said this is a very huge responsibility and need the support of all to curb it.

She said we should imagine the severe nature of the sun and rain storm these days and hence so we should fight to stop this menace .

This similar consultative forum took place in the over 22 paramountcys in Gonjaland with the same objective of stopping the menace.

How ever Bolewura is the chairman of the steering committee in the Region to help fight against these illegal activities.
