Health care delivery in rural Ghana faces dire challenges, with a large portion of rural communities still without access to basic health care services.

The rural communities lag behind in all the vital numbers such as the number of health care facilities, health workers or hospital facilities, as against the large army of patients seeking care.

To help mitigate the challange, a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), IMAGHE Incorporation, (International Medical Associates for Global Health Empowerment), with its headquarters at the United States of America has donated some assorted hospital equipment to the Bole District Health Directorate in the Savannah Region.

The donation includes vascular closure device, surgical blades, sutures, tension pillows, catheters, nose mask, adult lumbar puncture tray and other medical items.

Speaking at a short ceremony on Tuesday, February 23, 2021, to present the items on behalf of the NGO to the Bole District Health Directorate, the Member of Parliament for the Bole- Bamboi constituency, Hon. Yusif Sulemana, (Ori), said there was the need for the private sector to support health care providers and facilities in rural areas.

He said it was the aim of the organisation to make health care services affordable and easily accessible in deprived communities.

“IMAGHE Incorporation, with its subsidiary in Ghana as IMAGHE Ghana, with Dr. Derick Aboagye as the president have over the years supported some health care institutions in Ghana, including building of CHPs compound at Bojoase”, he added.

The constituency lawmaker also seized the opportunity and thanked the NGO for extending such a support to his constituency and said he is looking forward to working with the NGO on regular basis to improve health delivery services in the constituency.

According to him, the items will give hope and encouragement to the staff to do their best for mother Ghana.

Hon. Yusif advised the Health Directorate to make good use of the items supplied to them to achieve the intended purpose of improving the health needs of the residents.

The Bole District Director of the Ghana Health Service, Mr. David Bakuri, who received the gesture on behalf of the directorate commended IMAGHE Incorporation for the donation; saying the equipment will aid the health officials to discharge their duties well.

He lauded IMAGHE Incorporation for its continued support to ensure quality health care delivery in Ghana, and said the items are what the Health Directorate needs to improve on health care during this pandemic period of covid-19.

The Director cautioned the residents of Bole to be wary of the novel coronavirus by taking into consideration all the spelt out protocols of the virus as in wearing of nose masks, use of sanitizers and washing of hands with soap under running water among others.

IMAGHE Incorporation is an international Non- Governmental Organization whose vision is to create an environment where every underprivileged community in the world will have access to basic health care needs, starting with the continent of Africa, one village at a time.
