The Bole District Assembly of the Savannah Region has on December 3, 2020, handed over 2,000 units of dual desk furniture to the District Education Directorate to aid in the delivery of quality education.

At a handing over ceremony held at the forecourt of the Assembly, Madam Veronica Alele Heming, who is the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Bole, said the intervention was in response to lack of classroom furniture at some schools within the District.

“As an Assembly, we thought through and decided that we had to use part of the District Performance Assessment Tool (DPAT) funding to provide furniture to our schools due to the importance we attached to education”, she noted.

To her, the Assembly is committed to providing quality education for the younger generation. “This would help curb the indiscipline and unemployment rates in the area. Lack of furniture in schools has been a problem to the Assembly making it difficult for our young children to get places to sit on to concentrate on their education”.

She added that the Education Directorate should ensure that the desks are distributes immediately to all schools to avoid any damages as they are exposed the high scorchy sun.

The Bole District Director of Education, Madam Abiba Bakari Soale, commended the DCE and the Assembly for extending support to educational sector, adding that the desks have come at a time as most pupils lie on their bellies during classroom lessons.

She promised the DCE and the Assembly that the furniture will be put into good use and said with the procuring of the desks the district should expect better BECE results in the next academic year.

The event, brought together Assembly Members, Heads of the various departments, chiefs and other stakeholders at the Assembly forecourt with most them beaming with smile as the issue of furniture deficit in the District is gradually getting solved.
