The District Chief Executive (DCE) for the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District, Hon. Sinking Saaka, joined the people of Kong to celebrate the 2026 Damba Festival Durbar of the Kong Paramountcy at Kong.
Addressing the gathering, the DCE appealed to Kongwura Seidu Adamu Jinkurige I, to use his respected position and influence to help calm tensions within the district and promote peace.
Hon. Sinkina Saaka called on all residents and stakeholders to embrace peaceful co-existence, unity, reconciliation, and mutual respect for the sustainable development of the district.
The DCE acknowledged that the strong relationship and mutual trust that had existed for many years between the Gonja and Brifor communities had, over time, been affected by emerging tensions. He, however, expressed delight at witnessing members of the Brifor community joining their Gonja brothers and sisters to celebrate the Damba Festival together.
He appealed to traditional authorities, religious leaders, political actors, youth groups, civil society organisations, and the general public* to work collectively towards restoring the peace, unity, and mutual trust that had characterised relations between the two communities for many years.

Hon. Sinkina Saaka further assured the people of Kong and surrounding communities that more development projects would be extended to the area as part of the government’s Reset Agenda, stressing the importance of peace and stability to the development of the district.
The DCE was accompanied by Alhaji Osman Salia, NDC Constituency Chairman; the Vice Chairman, Zakaria ; and other party and community stakeholders.
The celebration provided an important platform for traditional and community stakeholders to reaffirm their collective commitment to Unity, Purpose, Peace, and Development.
