Youth in the Bole District of Savannah region have been called upon to take advantage of the Rural Technology Facility (RTF) setup in the area to help improve their livelihood.

The District Chief Executive, Madam Veronica Alele Heming, gave the advice during the handing over of the RTF hostel facility in Bole.

The hostel facility has a capacity of accommodating 74 apprentices with 48 male capacity and 26 female capacity.

It facility is established under the Rural Enterprises Project to help develop technology based rural businesses.

She stated that since the economic growth and development of Ghana is the responsibility of all Ghanaians and over 65% of all Ghanaians lived in the rural areas, Ghana’s future lies in the opportunities that are created in rural areas.

According to her, the government is committed to enhancing and building a strong and vibrant rural economy with the primary objective of addressing the problem of unemployment, poverty and rural-urban migration.

The project which is being implemented with support from the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), Africa Development Bank (AfDB) and the government of Ghana is meant to train the youth in metal fabrication and welding among others.

According to manager of RTF, Bole, Mr Alhassan Salifu Tanko said the project shows that skills development play a key role in alleviating poverty with the creation of sustainable jobs and businesses.

He also called on the youth of Bole to take up the opportunity of the hostel facility at the RTF centre to acquire training and skills that will impact on their lives positively.
