The National Secretary for the Ghana National Association of Farmers and Fishermen (GNAFF), Dr. Abutu Kapori urges farmers to reconsider their stand with regards to attending the Farmer’s Day Celebration come Friday, 5th December 2025.

Speakig with Yagbon Radio Morning Show Host, Mr. Diwura Abdul Fatawu, on Tea Cup, Dr. Abutu Kapori was contacted to solicit for his views on the current issues circulating on the media concerning farmers unwillingness and not ready to attend the upcoming 41st Farmers Day Celebration.

Dr. Kapori recounted that, “it is very true that some farmer associations petitioned government indicating their interest to boycott the 41st Farmers Day Celebration as a result of a glut of their farm products (rice) after harvesting.

” The biggest challenge of many farmers in Sub-Saharan Africa is the unfavourable weather conditions, market and value addition” Consciously, in as much as Ghanaians sympathise with those farmers who are faced with such a situation are however, entreated to dialogue with the right fora to get amicable solution to the challenge.

Dr. Abutu Kapori encouraged farmers not to resort to a boycott but rather use dialogue as a mechanism to resolve and unravel the situation.

According to the National Secretary of GNAFF, the agricultural value chain is a process and therefore must be seen as such. However,, he assured farmers That the leadership of GNAFF is working with government machinery closely to salvage the situation.

Again, Dr. Kapori pleaded to all farmers to exercise patience and hold restraint to attend the 41st Farmers Day Celebration while amicable solution is arrived at to address the challenge.

That the National Farmers Day is a great day for all farmers in Ghana and should be recognised and honoured by our galant farmers.

He further added that attending the 41st celebration will create an opportunity to easily communicate the challenges farmers are experiencing and going through in the glare presence of His Excellency John Dramani Mahama for an enhanced solution.

He reiterated that he has the conviction that before December 5th, the matter will be resolved

Dr. Abutu Kapori gave a flashback when the tomato glut happened recently, within the twinkle of an eye, a resolve was found. The situation is therefore not parrelel to the rice glut.

He urged the youth to take advantage of the Nkuko Nkitikiti and the Feed Ghana program of government as a golden opportunity as starters.

The GNAFF National Secretary concluded his submission by encouraging all farmers to attend the Farmers Day Celebration come Friday, 5th December 2025 at all levels
