Sawla -Tuna-Kalba district health directorate holds 2024 annual performance review meeting.

The Sawla -Tuna-Kalba district health directorate has held its annual performance review meeting to discuss its achievements, constraints and challenges in health delivery in the district.

Delivery the annual summary speech the district director of health services ,Madam Gertrude Yentumi ,said the meeting marks the moment to reflect and assess achievements and recognize the challenges of the health sector in the district.

She stated that mortality rate from 82%in 2023 to 88% 2024 , increase BCG from 96 to 108,ANC 37 to 84 and drastic decrease in Malaria cases as some achievement within the year under review .

Stating among other challenges are interference in staff posting, inadequate health personal,low TB detection rate ,no lab facilities in any of the health centers increase in anemia of pregnant women .

She also mentioned high mortality rate from 0% to 76% with the demise of two women within the year, lack of basic equipment in CHPS compounds and increased adolescent pregnancy from 12.2% to 15.3%.

Communicable diseases such us hypertension, Diabetes and cancer are on the rise in Sawla Tuna Kalba District madam Gertrude lamented ,adding that individuals should avail themselves at the wellness clinic for regular check ups.

Professing solutions to the various challenges madam Gertrude said stakeholders must work together to develop adequate infrastructure to meet the population growth and make resources available to meet the health needs of the citizens with innovation.

Partner with local and international NGOs and private sector can help create a robust health system in the District adding that development of of health professionals by investing in their capacity for quality health care.

Gertrude Yentumi expressed her gratitude to stakeholders for their support and wish for a better engagement for quality health delivery.

Addressing the participants the District coordinating director ,Ndamani Francis Dir eulogized the new director of health service and called on staff to support her succeed in health development of the area.

He stated that they are partnering with other stake holders to develop the health sector adding that the assembly has started contracting theaters in Tuna, Gindabour and other health centers.

Mr Francis also lamented how dirty the district capital of Sawla is and said they are to embark on a project to clean the capital before rain sets in.

The various health centers made presentations of their annual performances and challenge as well.
