The Media Coordinator of the All Regional Games Mr Alfred Obeng Dompreh in an interview with Yagbon Radion during the Sports Hour has admonished athletes in the Savannah Region to take up the opportunity created by former Black Stars Captain Asamoa Gyan by registering for the games.

He expressed shocked that only nine (9) athletes in the whole of Savannah Region have registered.

He explained that any footballer between 18 – 23 years who is not attached to any team qualifies to register.

There is no age limit for the other 8 disciplines such as Volleyball, basketball, table tennis, athletics, arm wrestling and among others. However, the applicant must be 18.

Mr Dompreh added that successful applicants would be invited for a regional trial in October to constitute the regional teams for the sports festival in Accra.

He explained that the applicant must get to the regional centre with their Ghana card, proof of registration and birth certificate.

The media coordinator debugged the rumours that the All Regional Games is meant to galvanize support for a political party.

‘No, no, we operate as a full institution. It was just a coincidence that at the time were planning this Asamoa Gyan was invited to join the sports sub- committee of the NPP manifesto committee.’ Mr Dompreh clarified.

According to Mr Dompreh, football scouts from Europe and volleyball scouts from Egypt and other African countries known for their volleyball would all be around to scout for talents.

The application is done online, where the applicant would be required to choose the discipline he or she wants to compete in. Each applicant would be required to pay GHC 29.99 to complete the registration.
