The Yerikoi-Mekaa Youth Association (YEMYA ) has presented fifty textbooks and two solar lamps to the Yerikoi community JHS worth GH¢1,500.00 as part of efforts to improve education in the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District.
Mr Edmund Sobaltey, the President of YEMYA , said the donation was their contribution to support and promote learning among children in the area.
He urged parents to be responsible and prioritise the education of their children since that was the only key to a successful and sustainable future.
According to the President, the best legacies parents could leave behind for their children was education saying, ”it is the only thing that cannot be taken away”.
He said, it was fulfilling to give back to society to ameliorate the plight of the vulnerable and the underprivileged.
Mr Edmund charged the pupils to commit themselves to pursue their education and avoid vices that may jeopardise their future.
He admonished the pupils to read their books always and avoid truancy.
The elders in the community commended the Youth Association for their support and appealed to other philanthropists and corporate organizations to also support them.
The Head teacher and pupils of the beneficiary school acknowledged the value of the items donated to them and thanked the donors for the gesture.
