The Deputy Roads and Highways Minister, Hon Stephen Jalulah, has said a contractor will be moving to site for the construction of an additional culverts at Bombontey on the Bole -Bamboi High way in four weeks time.
The Minister disclosed this to the media during his working visit to the Savannah Region to see the extent of damage on the Bamboi-Wa Road.
This minister described the visit as necessary due to public out cry and the 17th July accident which prompted the minister for Roads and Highways, Hon Amoako Attah who has instructed him to come and have a first hand information and report back to him.
The minister however said the situation is as a result of the Bui Dam spillage which was not considered during the construction of the road.
He however believed that with the construction of an additional culvert the situation will be under control.
Hon Jalulah however commiserated with the affected victims and thanked God lives were not lost.
He appreciated the highways authority for their proactiveness in putting warning signs to prevent further accidents.
The DCE for Bole District Hon veronica Alele Heming said with the assurance from the minister we should be rest assured that in the one month ultimatum the contractor will move to site.
According to Hon Alele she was very happy when the highways authority responded to her call by putting warning signs on that stretch to prevent future occurrence of accidents.
She however warned people in the district to stop constructing unapproved strips and speed Ramps as that practice has the tendency to destroy the road.
Police Commander for Bole District ASP Benjamin Bustine said they are not only to provide security but to also ascertain some challenges as far as motor traffic is concern but was glad the Assembly man disclosed to them how drivers over speed on the road which he said falls on their jurisdiction to curb.
The Assembly member for kwame kwesi Electoral area Hon Dery Gilbert described the situation in his area as worrying as he will have to mobilize members of the electoral area to stop cars from moving any time there were heavy rains.
He expressed his heart felt gratitude for the swift intervention.
The minister with the Savannah Regional highways also made a stop over at Wasipe to observe similar situation.
He will proceed through Sawla to Wa to have a first hand information on the road situation.
The Wa-Bamboi stretch is an international road connecting Ivory Coast, Togo and Burkina Faso.
