The Sports Committee of the Mankuma Circuit of the Bole District Education Directorate has organized a one day volleyball gala for only primary schools under their jurisdiction.
This came about after the committee realized during last inter-school sports competition that almost all the volleyball players for the various schools are in JHS.
It was therefore announced there in Mankuma last term that all schools should begin training the young ones in primary if they had not started and present a team at Gbogdaa this term.
On 27th day of October, 2022 history was made as a novel one day volleyball gala for primary schools in the Mankuma Circuit was held in Gbogdaa.
The unprecedented event saw seven schools namely Gbogdaa Methodist Primary, Doli D/A Primary, Mankuma R/C Primary, Dendenyiri D/A Primary, Kakiase R/C Primary, Gbampe D/A Primary and Gbebiri Primary competed among themselves in both boys and girls category.
The host school Gbogdaa Methodist faced Mankuma Primary in the finals of both categories and did the double over the latter.
Thus, Gbogdaa Methodist primary took home the overall champions trophy as well.
In an interview, the Mankuma Circuit Sports Organizer Mr Osman Issahaku, aka Champion thanked the School Improvement Support Officer (SISO) Mr Gbolo Edgard and his sports committee for supporting the initiative.
Champion also expressed his gratitude to all teachers of the circuit for the various roles played to make the tournament a successful one.
He particularly praised the acting District Sports Organizer, Mr Kipo Langa, Mohammed Sumani and Mr Abdulai Moshie for making it to Gbogdaa and supporting in the officiating.
The understandably elated Organizer reiterated that Gbogdaa might emerged champions but the circuit as whole was the ultimate winner.
He added that Doli is the venue for their next under 15 sports competition which will see some schools compete in hand ball as well.
All in all, the pace setters, the extraordinary circuit, the Mankuma Circuit has done it again. It’s my fervent prayer and hope that other circuits would not forget that sports is co-curricular activity and endeavor to emulate the Mankuma Circuit.
