The Northern Regional Football Association has on Thursday May 23 made public the fixtures of the sub-middle league of the 2023/2024 season.
Twenty division two teams that have qualified from a group stage tournament at the various zones have now been drawn in a knock out format.
This new format instead of the Zonal or Regional base sub-middle will see ten teams advance to the second stage of the tournament where another knock fixtures will be drawn.
The five winners at this stage will then progress to the final stage at Yendi to compete in an all play all tournament with the eventual winner making it to the famous Division One League.
All Division Two League teams in the Savannah and North-East Region are still under The Northern Regional Football Association therefore making it difficult for many football teams to progress.
Bole Based Kuga Soccer Professionals and STK Stars from Sawla who qualified from the Bole Zone will give it try.
Kuga will lock horns with Wulensi Sunkuli Stars FC whiles STK Stars battle Boresa FC on Wednesday May 29, 2024 at Tamale and Damango respectively.
Interestingly, both Kuga Soccer Professionals and STK Stars FC who train and play on ‘sakora’ ( field without grass) will now face the challenge of playing on astro turf.
In a telephone interview head coach of SKY Stars Coach Rahman Nyariba said his side was ready for the challenge and are determined to go as far as possible in the competition.
