The Social Welfare Officer for Bole District Traucott Kpandangble, has said he should have been contacted to explain why some LEAP beneficiaries were not paid over expired e-zwich cards.
He disclosed to Yagbon Radio in response to a Radio interview by Hon. David Bii Jimah, Assembly Member for Tesilma Electoral Area.
On Wednesday, Hon. Jimah disclosed to Abdul Fataw Diwura on yagbon radio “tea cup” that officials of social welfare came to pay beneficiaries but denied them their stipends as a result of expired e-zwich cards.
Hon. Jimah explained that beneficiaries were not also told the next action to take to enable them receive their benefits.
Mr. Traucott said that was not the case. According to him, he told them he hasv submitted a report to the LEAP secretariat about the challenge. If they have any action to take it will come from the secretariat.
In any case assembly members are not the focal persons of the various areas and cannot speak on behalf of them Mr. Traucott explained.
He said every area has a focal person that serve as a liaison between beneficiaries and and social welfare nevertheless the assembly members can still come to his office to inquire about the program
He said assembly members are not allowed to get involve directly in matters of LEAP but as public figures they are allowed to observe activities of the program.
He however urged the public to exercise restrain as he await response from the LEAP secretariat.
