Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District Assembly Elect A Presiding Member.

The Assembly Members of Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District has elected the Assembly man for Kawuribi Electoral Area Hon. Abdulai Mohammed as the Presiding Member at their Assembly meeting on Monday 26th Febuary 2024.

Speaking to Yagbon News, the new presiding member said he is urging all the Assembly Members to set aside their differences and focus on the progress of the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District.

“Let us work as a unified team and ensuring that we familiarize ourselves with the standing orders and other laws that empower us to fulfill our responsibility” he said.

Hon. Abdulai Mohammed, called on everyone to come on board to help the Assembly achieve it’s objective which is the development of Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District.

The total number of Assembly Members who voted were 46 and Hon. Alhaji had 30 Yes Votes, 14 No Votes and 2 Rejected Votes, which he couldn’t get two thirds of the house.

In the second round, Hon. Abdulai Mohammed had 44 Yes Votes, 2 No Votes which made him to get two thirds of the house and being elected as the new presiding member of the Assembly.

Hon. Alhaji also thanked Hon. Jacob Dumakawe the new DCE for Sawla-Tuna-Kalba and made a pledge to work closely with him and the Assembly Members.

The new presiding member went unopposed during the elections.
