Assembly Members at the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District Assembly on Monday 26th February 2024 voted to confirm the President nominee, Hon. Jacob K. Dumakawe as District Chief Executive.
Hon. Jacob Dumakawe in his speech said I want to entreat all of us to build good working relationship with the District Chief Executive, the member of Parliament, Staff of the assembly, Area Councils, Unit Committees and traditional authorities as well as identifiable groups to help facilitate the work of local governance.
The DCE elect added that he will operate an open door administration and he’s office will be open to everyone who has genuine issues to discuss or share with him irrespective of class, race, ethnicity or political affiliation.
Again we need to collaborate with each other to be able to achieve the desire developments required by our people from us he added.
Hon. Jacob Dumakawe secured 93 percent of the votes cast by 46 assembly members comprising 33 elected members and 14 government appointees.
The newly elected DCE promised to work diligently and in consultation with all stakeholders to advance the development of the District.
He thanked the President for the confidence reposed in him, saying he was humbled at the nomination and the endorsement.
His confirmation was supervised by the Electoral Commission.
The Savannah regional Minister, Savannah Regional Coordinating Director, DCE for Bole Hon Veronica Alele were all present to witness the conformation at the Sawla District Assembly hall.
Background.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on February 2, 2024, has announced the dismissal of 24 Municipal, Metropolitan, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) in accordance with the Constitution and the Local Government Act.
The former Sawla-Tuna-Kalba DCE, madam Lonsina Barikisu was one of the 24 affected DCE that were relieved of their duties.
The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo then nominated Mr. Jacob Dumakawe as District Chief Executive for the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District.
