A suspected armed robber, was on Sunday July 25, 2021, gunned down by the Police iat the outskirts of Danniwuri on the Sawla-Wa Highway.
The deceased was killed when a gang of which he was a member, engaged the police in a shootout at the outskirts of Danniwuuri a suburb of the Sawla-Tuna Kalba District, in the Savannah Region.
According to the Sawla District Police Commander ASP Degraft Armah Agyei, at about 0100 hours duty men at Tuna check point received information that robbers had crossed the road at the outskirts of Danniwuri robbing motorists plying the route.
He told Yagbon News in an interview that two of the duty men responded and boarded one of the passenger cars to the scene.
“The robbers opened fire on seeing the vehicle, and the policemen also returned fire and gunned down one of the robbers killing him instantly while the rest managed to escape into the bush”, ASP Degraft Armah Said.
The District Police Commander added that one single barrel gun and 5 empty cartridges were retrieved and retained for investigations while the body has been deposited at Sawla hospital pending identification and autopsy.
