The Sawla Divisional Fire Officer, ADOI Joshua Lamptey, on Wednesday appealed to market women in the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District to observe fire safety measures to avoid fire outbreaks.

Addressing market women at Sawla market, the Divisional Fire Officer, ADOI Joshua Lamptey advised market women to take precautionary measures to avoid fire outbreaks in the markets.

This was contained in a statement released by the PRO of the Sawla Fire Station.

He urged them to put off all naked fires and electrical appliances before leaving the market and that they should also insure their stores against any eventuality.

Mr Lamptey said, the education was necessary as some fire that occurs in our homes could have been prevented if occupants had knowledge on how to prevent them.

He said, fire safety is a shared responsibility and it’s incumbent upon all to cooperate with the GNFS to ensure that businesses and properties as well as human lives are protected at all times from undesired fires .

The team explained the concept of fire safety to the gathering and under scored the the essence of ensuring that all electrical gadgets are handled with care and optimum precaution are observed during cooking at homes.

The team hit the grounds running with a massive education on vehicular fires, sensitizing the drivers on the need to adhere to fire safety protocols and the need to purchase vehicular extinguishers for their cars.

The entire exercise was a success, drawing positive reviews from the good people of Sawla.

ADOII Saani Hudu and ADOII Dramani Rashida joined the Divisional Fire Officer in the outreach.
