Pure Trust Social Investor Foundation, which seeks to empower communities to strategically initiate developmental projects on their own has on December 29, 2020, held a meeting with stakeholders within the Bole District with the aim of forming a community foundation for the Bole District.
It is under Community Foundation Development Project funded by Charles Stewart Mott Foundation a US base foundation which seeks to empower community members to attract development to their communities through community project initiatives.
The stakeholder engagement in which was held today comprises; traditional authorities, the clergy, Islamic community, media, artisans among others where they were they introduced to the project.
Most NGO’s and donors in the country started withdrawing their funding to Ghana in 2010 when Ghana attained a middle income status .
On this backdrop pure trust secured a funding in 2014 on community foundation project to help communities secure international funding by self help project.
Addressing the media, CEO of Pure Trust Mr Habib Harunah, said the project is a pilot project, in Tamale, North Gonja, Bole and other Districts in the Savannah, Northern and North-East Region.
He said communities are expected to start a project before a donor can risk investing money in that project.
He then urged community members to embrace these projects initiatives to attract development to their communities.
He stated that with this project, pure Trust was able to establish Shea processing plant in Chache and Kilampobile in the Bole District.
An interim committee was formed to build a road map to form the community foundation.
