National Democratic Congress Communications Officer for Savannah Region Abdul-Malik Basintale has said President Nana Akufo Addo only comes to Savannah Region because of yams and cow as a gift he receives from Chiefs of Gonjaland.

He made the statement on Yagbon radio Tea cup show with Abdul- Razack on Monday, 12th July, 2021.

The opposition Savannah Regional Communications Officer said if not that, the president has visited Savannah Region eight times with nothing to show.

He quizzed about the water project in Damongo which he challenged the president in 2020 that was it was a scam whether it has been completed.

According to him the visit to the region is of no essence but for him to only come for bulls and yams.

Mr Basintale chronicled some developmental projects started by the erstwhile NDC government for which the President is commissioning without reference to former president Mahama.

He mentioned Sawla District hospital Central Gonja hospital and a polyclinic at Bamboi.

He also mentioned among others three E-blocks, Sawla-Fufulso road with auxiliary facilities on education and health and many more.

In a reaction to his assertion, the Communications Director for the New Patriotic Party in the Savannah Region Mr Mohammed Issah described the comment by his opponent as unfortunate.

He said today he is regional communication all thanks to President Nana Addo for creating the Savannah Region.

He urged his opponent to be serious on regional issues of development and not to reduce the whole matter to that level.

Mr Issah said aside the creation of Savannah Region, construction of decentralized departments and agencies in the region, construction of Salaga- Bimbila Road, Salaga-kpandai Road, Daboya-Mankarigu Road, Rice factory in Salaga among others are developmental projects the region has benefited from the NPP under the stewardship of President Nana Akufo Addo.

He however said, “one cannot say former President Mahama didn’t do anything in this region but come to think of it as his home land and compare to what H.E Dr Bawumia is doing in North- East”, Mr Issah stated.

He however said Nana Addo has out weighed H. E former president Mahama in his own Region.

He said development is a process and when a project is initiated, it takes a lot of channels to get the contractor on site that is what is affecting the construction of the structure of Regional House of Chiefs.

He reiterated it was really unfortunate with the comment made by the NDC Regional Communications Officer.
