The Sawla-Tuna- Kalba National Democratic Congress (NDC), has held its constituency elections in a peaceful atmosphere to elect executive members to steer the affairs of the party for the next four years.
Hon. Andrew Dari Chiwitey, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Sawla-Tuna-Kalba, called for a united front to lead the party and admonished them not to allow petty squabbles to divide them.
He assured them of his readiness to work with all the new executives in an atmosphere of peace to facilitate the victory of the party in 2024.
In all 42 candidates for various positions in the party were voted for in addition to one candidate who went unopposed and eight other executives.
At the end of the polls, Alhaji Osman Salia polled 535 to carry the day as the constituency chairman, while his opponents Mr. Abubakari Mohammed and Mr Tilatey Ollo Benjamin obtained 309 and 154 votes respectively.
For the Vice Chairman position, Mr. Mahama Zakari won with 554 votes to defeat his other contestant, Mr Farouk Abubakari Abubakari who had 439 votes.
Mr. Chorchiitey Mathew polled 504 votes to win the Secretary position with Mr. Chopire Joseph polling 492 votes.
The Deputy Secretary was won by Mr. Osman Abdallah who bagged 516 votes, whilst Mr Gayoni Charleshad 361 votes with Mr Sei Jesus Gminkaara obtaining 115 votes.
For the Women’s Organiser Position, Madam Kunyangna Sarah took the position with 59 votes with Madam Alhasaan Rahinatu obtaining 47 votes while Madam Saako Salifu Umu- Hani and Madam Suzana Yirlo had 7 and 1 votes respectively.
Alhasaan Hussein bagged 611 votes to win the Zongo caucus and 380 votes were obtained by his opponent by Mr.Abudu Mahamadu.
For the position of Treasurer, Mr. Adamu Seidu garnered a total of 453 votes to win, while Mr. Amidu Mutalim had 183 votes with Mr Sinkina Saaka scoring 349.
Mr. Nujaal Joseph was elected as Organizer with 674 votes while Mr Benjamin Jimah Adams his only contender got 316 votes.
Mr Ebaltey John secured 500 votes to beat Mr Kipo Elijah Bakari who had 498 for the Communication Officer position.
Mr Nojitey Joseph, Mr Kulah Raphael,Mr Kontinatey Isaac Maamul, Mr Sofitey John Kuubaarnibe, Mr Kipo lsaac Sunyazi and Mr Anbon Chorbintey Emmanuel were elected as Deputy organizer, Deputy Treasure, Deputy Communication officer, Youth organizer, Deputy Youth organizer and youth representative respectively.
Madam Agnes Naawmendoo went unopposed for the position of deputy Women’s Organizer.
Eight others were also elected to assist the newly elected executives to steering the affairs of the party for the next four years.
