Nasco Feeding Minds in collaboration with Barca Foundation has commissioned an ultra-modern ICT Centre at Tuna Senior High/ Technical School in the Sawla -Tuna- Kalba District of the Savannah Region, aimed at strengthening digital education and practical ICT training for students.
The facility is expected to bridge the technology gap in the area by providing students with access to modern computing tools and improving hands-on learning in Information and Communication Technology
Speaking Yagbon News, the Executive Director of Nasco Feeding Minds, Seidu Nuhu Banas , described the intervention as a significant boost to education in a District where ICT facilities remain limited
According to him, the project goes beyond setting up computer laboratories. He explained that the initiative is aimed at equipping young people with digital skills, educational resources, and opportunities that can transform their lives through quality education.
He noted that NASCO Feeding Minds has steadily expanded across the country with centres in Sawla-Tuna-Kalba, Bole, Wa, Daboya, Techiman, Fianso, the University of Ghana, and a training centre at North Legon in Accra.
Hon. Banasco Seidu Nuhu also emphasized that Africa remains the youngest continent in the world and must prepare its youth with the necessary skills to meet future global workforce demands.
The newly commissioned ICT centre will provide high-speed internet access, digital learning materials, teacher training programmes, and community learning opportunities. He added that the facility would operate a “24-hour economy” system to allow continuous access for learning and research.
To ensure safe and productive internet use, the centre will install advanced internet firewalls to block access to social media platforms and inappropriate online content.
The Headmaster, staff, chiefs, District Education Directorate, DCE, and members of the community expressed appreciation to NASCO Feeding Minds and the Barca Foundation for the support and appealed for more developmental projects in the District.
The initiative is expected to significantly improve digital literacy and educational opportunities for students and young people in the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District.
