The Paramount Chief of the Bole Traditional Area, Bolewura Sarfo Kutuge Feso l, has appealed to his residents and the entire citizens of the country to take up the green Ghana exercise very critical to facilitate the agenda to help enrich the forests in the country.
The Paramount Chief in a statement issued ahead of tomorrow’s Green Ghana project asserted that trees are very essential in the lives of every individual hence the need for all to participate in this year’s Green Ghana project to ensure that trees are planted all his traditional area.
“Under the project by the Lands and Natural Resources Ministry, the Bole Traditional Area has targeted planting one hundred thousand trees as a commitment to the project the Green Ghana”, a statement issued by the Bolewura secretary stated.
The statement further directed all chiefs within his jurisdiction to plant ten trees each in their communities or areas and entreat all chiefs to take good care of the trees to create public awareness for the need to plant trees.
The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources has targeted the planting of 10 million trees nationwide during this year’s Green Ghana Day.
Slated for June 9, the exercise which will be held on the theme, “Our Forests, Our Health”, would be funded with a GH¢2.5 million allocation from government and donations from individuals, corporate groups and organisations.
This year’s target is 10 million short of the 2022 target, which was set at 20 million.
