The 2022 edition of the Gonjaland Youth Association Congress has been held at Doboya on Saturday March 26th 2022, with a massive attendance by Chiefs, Queen mothers, Islamic leaders, traditional leaders, sons, and daughters of the Gonja land.
Speaking at the special durbar, Professor Joshua Alabi on behalf of H.E. former President of the Republic of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, said that the event of the GLYA Congress is dear to his heart and would have wished to be part of the August occasion but unfortunately other international engagements have swapped his attendance because he planned to have taken part in Easter but the event shifted forward hence his absence.
Prof. added, that John Mahama has sent a powerful delegation led by him to represent him at the congress.
“As you are aware, your son H.E. John Dramani Mahama is a global person. He is no more a local champion. He is an international champion and so he is not in the country to have attended the congress”. He said.
Through prof Alabi, John Mahama has thanked the event organizers for making him the special guest of honor and wish to take part next year, “That John Mahama has demonstrated the footsteps of Ndewura Jakpa and has taken an exemplary lead to the inspiration and power of the youth”.
Also, prof said that Gonjas are warriors and is exactly what John Mahama is doing because when he had the opportunity to rule Ghana he did it perfectly.
That the country is going wayward so he pleads with the youth to do their best to help so the country will be out of the economic mess.
The youth must be serious with their education, tolerate and demonstrate peace as they will be leaders of both community and nation and do not engage in political crimes as it retards development, he noted.
He said that one party cannot be in power forever therefore the youth must be cautious of their partisan activities.
“Though John is not in the country but has donated ghc10,000 to support the development of the association”, said Prof Alabi.
He also urged everyone to still protect him/herself from Covid 19 and also thanked the people of the Savannah Region for giving the NDC more than 65% vote of the 2020 general election and wish to obtain more than 86% in 2024 elections.
