The people of Bale in the Bole District have called on the Ghana Education Service(GES) to post more teachers to the Bale Methodist JHS, in the area to enhance effective teaching and learning.
The appeal was made when old students of the school met to select some youth to assist in teaching as the school can only boast of 3 teachers.
Speaking in an interview with Yagbon News, Mr Chowiel Sammy, said the school is suffering staff attrition which was hindering education in the area.
He said he and the entire community will send a letter to the GES for additional teachers and urged them to speed up the process to help address the acute shortage of teachers in the school.
He added that the community aimed to promote effective teaching and learning in the area by rewarding hardworking and dedicated volunteer teachers.
He also complained about inadequate furniture in the school and called on corporate organizations to support the school.
He entreated parents to guide their children against social deviance.
Mr Sammy said the decline in BECE performance in the school was worrying for many and noted that for high standards to be restored all stakeholders had to complement the Government’s efforts.
The meeting adopted the implementation of by laws on preventing children from funerals and sensitizing the communities on the problem.
Mr David Sei Demah, a community member and a politician urged the youth to build the culture of volunteerism to help shape their career pathways.
He said the youth must voluntarily serve in institutions to prepare them to take up decision-making positions to help develop the nation.
According to him , “volunteerism and service to one’s nation are not waste of time but a demonstration of patriotism, selflessness for national growth and development.”
“Most of the skills, experience and expertise needed to achieve your dreams are acquired on the platform of service and volunteerism,” he noted.
“Learning outside your field of studies will help you to be productive in the corporate environment”, he said.
