The Gonjaland Youth Association has in a remarkable manner celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Association in a grand style at Buipe in the central Gonja District over the weekend.

Delivering a speech by Naripewura Panfia Kipson on behalf of Jira Buipewura Abdulai Jinapor II, stated that today is not merly an anniversary, it is a historic milestone in our collective journey as a people.

It is a celebration of fifty years of sacrifice, service, resilience and vision.

For half a century the Gonjaland Youth Association across ethnic, social and geographical lines in pursuit of peace, development and progress.

This legacy is worthy of honour and it is our solemn duty to preserve and strengthen it for generation yet to born.

“I also wish to underscore the critical importance of unity and collective responsibility in the development of Gonjaland and government alone cannot carry the full burden of development”.

Traditional authorities, youth groups, opinion leaders, professionals and all stakeholders must come together with a shared sense of purpose, it is only through collective effort, mutual respect, and a common vision that we can accelerate sustainable development in our communities.

Speaking at the Congress, the President of the GLYA Alhassan Baba Darison, noted that a fifty years journey in the life of any association is a remarkable mileston one that calls for reflection, celebration, and renewed commitment.

Over the years, our Association has worked tirelessly to promote peaceful coexistence among all ethnic groups in Gonjaland.

Again as we celebrate this golden jubilee, it is only fitting that we pay glowing tribute to our visionary founding leaders whose sacrifices, foresight, and commitment laid the solid foundation upon which this great Association stands today. Their dedication to unity, peace, and development

continues to inspire us.

He Further stated that he is proud to announce that they will institute an annual Ndewura Jakpa Day to commemorate the enduring legacy of Ndewura Jakpa, the revered founder of the Gonja Kingdom. This day will serve as a reminder of our rich history, identity, and shared heritage.

As an Association, we respectfully request the following interventions to accelerate

development in Gonjaland, we acknowledge ongoing efforts to address the water crisis in Gonjaland, particularly in Damongo, and urge government to expedite action considering its status as the regional capital and the seat of the Overlord and we also propose transition of Bole from community water systems to the Ghana Water Company Limited

Extension of a similar arrangement to Salaga.

The association also proposed the creation of three new districts from Central Gonja, Sawla-Tuna-Kalba, and East Gonja elevation of Bole District to Municipal status.
