The Buipe high patrol team has on Sunday, January 23, 2022, arrested five persons who are believed to be part of a car snatching syndicate in the Tamale metropolis.
The suspects are Ibrahim Issah aged 27, Mohammed Mustapha in military uniform, aged 23, Burma camp DI, Vivor Christopher aged 27, Benyamin Ajyei aged 23 and Seyram Addo aged 29.
According to a statement by the Buipe Police Command, they received information from RCID/Tamale to the effect that some people attacked and robbed someone in Tamale of his Toyata Camery Vehicle and other items and fled towards Buipe direction.
The Buipe highway patrol team on duty at Sawaba Police checkpoint on Buipe – Tamale highway intercepted and arrested occupants of two vehicles with registration number AS8445-19 and GX6923-20 in connection with the crime .
A search conducted on them found 13 assorted mobile phones, one Falcon Foreign Pistol loaded with 9mm ammunition, a wallet containing a bunch of keys together with two handcuffs key, two Voter’s ID Cards, Melcom card, Access Bank card and cash the sum of GHC21.20p, Some Military uniforms, Police Ballistic helmet and police uniforms were also found in the Toyota Camry Spider with registration number GX6923-20, the police report indicated.
The items were retained whiles the suspects were detained.
The police report added that No.41864 Detective Sgt Owusu of Regional C.I. D, Tamale in charged four armed men who were pursuing the suspects on board same arrived at the station together with Adam Abdul-Gafaru of Tamale being the robbery victim and he identified one of the vehicles the suspects were using as his they took from him at gunpoint and other items at his residence at Banvim-Jonshegu a suburb of Tamale.
Meanwhile on the instructions of the Northern Regional Police Commander, Compol/Mr.Timothy Bonga, the suspects together with the exhibits were handed over to the men and they escorted them to Regional Headquarters, Tamale where the incident occurred.
