Final funeral rites for the late Hajia Siata Bakari, the mother of the Savannah Regional National Democratic Congress Chairman, Alhaji Seidu Imoro popularly known as Man Blessing, has been held at the new market at Sawla.
Former President, John Dramani Mahama, the NDC National Chairman,Ofosu Ampofo, Lands and Natural Resources minister, Lawyer Samuel Abu Jinapor, the Savannah Regional minister, Members of Parliament, Savannah Regional NPP chairman, the Clergy, traditional authorities, and a cross-section of the public attended the funeral to commiserate with the Regional chairman and his siblings.
Speaking at the funeral the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources Hon Samuel Abu Jinapor, described the Regional chairman as a descent man, good and a dignified personality.
He said for this character he has respect for him and that’s why he is came to celebrate diversity and commiserate with him and his family.
He said he is not the first to be a cabinet minister as a matter of fact former President Mahama was the first cabinet from Savannah region.
According to said we should consider coming together to develop the region devoid of political colorisation.
He wished the departed soul a resting place in peace.
Samuel Ofosu Ampofu, National Chairman of the NDC, said he happened to be in the same shoes with as he also lost his mother recently.
He on behalf of the NDC he expressed his condolences to the chairman and his family.
He said the presence of the other chairmen and party executives is to show solidarity and said may this be a blessing to the NDC come next election for JM to continue his good works.
Addressing sympathizers at the funeral, Former President Mahama expressed his heart felt gratitude to to the clergy adding that when a person depart from the living he does not need food or water but prayers.
He emphasised on unity in diversity within the Northern community.
He said all people from the north are known as twins as in Dagati, Gonja, Birifor, Dagomba among others.
So why don’t we see ourselves as twins and aslo stay in the north without discrimination and tribalism in a state of under development.
He solidarise with Alhaji Imoro and his family but said every parent wish is a son to give him or her a name after he is gone and that’s exactly what chairman Moro has done.
