Hon. Jacob K. Dumakawe, Sawla -Tuna-Kalba District Chief Executive, has appealed to members of the assembly to re-dedicate their efforts towards revenue mobilisation, to undertake more development projects to improve the living standards of the people.

He said there could not be any meaningful development if the assembly relied heavily on the District Assemblies Common Fund as a panacea to the development needs of the people.

Hon.Jacob made the appeal when he addressed members of the assembly at its 1st ordinary session at Sawla on Tuesday.

The DCE in his address highlighted the growth of the District in the area of education, agriculture, hygiene and sanitation, security, health and water.

According to the DCE as parts of efforts to improve education in the District, the Assembly under the SOCO project had procured and distributed 250 dual desk to schools in Bobalanyuro,Sansayiri, Sunday, Konkrompe, Kanchen,Digzie,Jentilpe and Pinvoro.

Under water provision,he mentioned that the Assembly is currently drilling 8 boreholes to some communities who are not having access to potable drinking water.

On peace and security, the DCE mentioned that the District recorded no major security issues expect the recent skirmishes in the Kong Traditional Area which DISEC and the concerned youth groups have worked closely in bringing the situation under control.

He maintained that the District had grown relatively in almost all the sectors under review and called all assembly members as wells as residents in the area in supporting the assembly in all spheres to help improve the living conditions of the people.
