Mr. Seidu Jeremiah, Coordinator for Jaksally Development Organisation, a non- profit making body with its headquarters at Bole in the Savannah Region has blamed recent rainstorm disasters on illegal rosewood logging activities and the burning of trees for commercial purposes.

Speaking to Yagbon News during a visit to victims of a rainstorm in the Kintampo North Constituency on April 28, 2021, Mr. Seidu Jeremiah said that illegal Rosewood logging, the cutting of trees for commercial purposes among other acts of feforestation have depleted our forest reserves exposing us to all manner of environmental disasters.

According to him, individuals can engage in rosewood logging and charcoal burning by following legal and recommended protocols by experts without necessarily destroying environment .

He charged traditional leaders to rise to the occasion and put a stop to these activities since they are allegedly accused of being behind such activities.

He further cautioned individuals who are engaging in such activities illegally without following due process to put a stop on that and seek experts advice and permits from the appropriate authorities to help curtail the menace of depleting our forest cover.
