A notorious armed robber operating on the Bole-Bamboi- Wa highway Hassan Lanya has been killed in a gun battle with the police intelligence directorate at Teselima in the Bole District of the Savannah Region on Saturday, March 28, 2020 after the team heard the deceased and two others had arrived at Banda Nkwanta and were preparing to embark on a robbery operation along the Bole-Bamboi highway.
Hassan Lanya, who is on a bench warrant from Wa Circuit court for robbery and also being wanted for his involvement in a highway robbery case at Bandankwanta for cattle rustling case in Wa 27.
According to the Savannah Regional police command, the officers tracked the suspect to a house at Teselima, upon seeing members of the team, the deceased attacked them with a machete and engaged the team in a fierce struggle, whilst the other two accomplices managed to escape.
The deceased sustained gun shot wounds in the process and was rush to Wenchi Methodist hospital for treatment but was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Meanwhile the body has been deposited in the same hospital mortuary for preservation.
