The Nursing and Midwifery Training College at Bole in the Savannah Region has held its tenth (10th) matriculation ceremony to welcome 184 new students into the 2021/2022 academic year, who joined its registered public health nursing, registered nurse assistant preventive and post NAC/NAP midwifery programs.

In an address, the Principal, Christina Terbobri, while congratulating the freshmen and women for gaining admission into the institution reminded them of the essence of the profession and the required discipline and commitment desired of them.

She said during the academic year’s admission process, the college received hundreds of applications out of which 184 comprising of 134 females and 50 males were admitted to pursue their programs.

The theme for the event was “promoting quality and discipline in achieving academic excellence”.

Mrs Christina, also reminded tutors of their roles to instill priceless virtues in the students.

The school established in 2012 has already produced hundreds of graduates with nursing and midwifery backgrounds serving in various health institutions.

But the school is reeling under a myriad of challenges.

The Principal observed that a number of challenges bedeviling the institution include inadequate hostel facilities for the students.

Another challenge confronting the facility is the lack of a school bus to convey students for academic trips.

Lack of clearance for casual workers was another challenge mentioned by the principal.

The Principal, therefore, called on the District Chief Executive and Member of Parliament for the area, the traditional council and various philanthropists to, as a matter of urgency, offer the necessary assistance to the school which remains a legacy to the community.

She further challenged the fresh students to focus on their studies and eschew all negative vices and called on individuals and institutions in the host community and beyond to support the college in diverse ways.

She added that the college has plans of celebrating it 10th anniversary come September this year.

On his part, the chairman of the Advisory Board of the college, Alhaji Adams Achanso, congratulated the matriculants for gaining admission to the College and their readiness to accept the challenges that come with the pursuit of knowledge and challenged them to take up the stewardship and the challenge to excel in their education.

He advised the students to take up their studies seriously to achieve academic excellence.

The students expressed that they were looking forward to starting their academic program at the prestigious institution.
