Hon. Veronica Alele Heming, District Chief Executive for Bole on Wednesday September 15, 2021, assessed the damage caused to portions of the Seripe- Dakurpe road in the Bole District after series of heavy downpours in the past days.

The damage to the portions of the road did not affect traffic flow, however, it needed to be fixed immediately to avoid further damages.

Hon Veronica, who was accompanied by the District engineer on the assessment tour, said the move is to aid her with first hand information on the situation and to report appropriately to the authorities involved.

The DCE told Yagbon News that road is near cut- off if immediate steps are not taken in fixing it.

The Bole District Director of NADMO, Mr. Kipo Sulemana had earlier on appealed to the authorities in the district to as a matter of urgency fix the Seripe- Dakurpe road for easy movement of vehicles.

According to a statement issued by Mr. Kipo the road from Seripe heading to Dakrupe in the Bole District have some portions of it near total cut off.

The road if totally cut off residents of Dakrupe, Kiblimah, Kalidu, Tuntumba, Cloth, Kontori and Bonbir all in the Sonyo Traditional Area of the Bole District would be denied access to health care to the Bole hospital, farm produce from the communities listed above would be locked up, market women would also not be able to buy and sell in the Bole market from the affected communities, the statement added.

Mr Kipo also has cautioned that if immediate steps are not taken between now to first week of October the road would have been totally cut off and close to an estimated population of 3, 400 residents would have been affected.

Last Saturday, torrential rains washed off some roads in the Savannah Region such as the Gbeniyiri road in the Sawla- Tuna-Kalba District and the Busunu- Daboya road in the North- Gonja District which was completely cut-off causing a vehicular and human traffic on that stretch.
