Hon. Yusif Sulemana, Member of Parliament for the Bole-Bamboi constituency in the Savannah Region, has praised Global Communities, an NGO, for its continuous support in the provision of potable water and sanitary facilities for rural communities in the area.

He said the enormous contribution of the organisation in improving access to clean, safe drinking water and sanitation facilities in rural communities was much appreciated by the people.

The MP made these comments to Yagbon News after the NGO received a citation from the Bole Nursing and Midwifery Training College for providing the institution with a portable drinking water.

The MP who doubles as the deputy ranking member of Parliament Select Committee of Trades and Industry said the NGO had over the years supported the people, especially those in rural communities and smaller towns not only in the provision of boreholes, but also in the management, maintenance and protection of clean and safe drinking water supply sources.

He appealed to chiefs and other community leaders from beneficiary communities to form water committes in their various communities to ensure that water provided by the NGO are maintained to last longer to meet the intended purpose of the Organization.

When Bole NMTC relocated to their new site, there was serious water challenge as the students have to walk several kilometres before they can access water.

In view of this, Management of Bole NMTC appealed to Global Communities through the Bole District Assembly to help them solve the water crisis in the school.

Global Communities responded by drilling a borehole and mechanised for the school including a 4 Rambo 500litre polytanks and erected platforms mounted for the school.

The school in recognition of this during their 2020/2021 matriculation on Wednesday, June, 23, 2021, presented a citation to Global Communities which was received on behalf of the NGO by the WASH Officer for Bole, Mr. Jonathan Nanyim.

In his acceptance remarks, Jonathan noted that Global Communities/USAID, was happy for the gesture by the school and that Global Communities has always partnered for the good and will continue to work towards improving the lives of the vulnerable communities within Bole and around the world.

Global Communities has been working in Bole District for five years now and has drilled 23 boreholes for communities, 6 mechanised systems for schools and CHPS compounds, constructed several KVIPs for schools and had declared several communities Open Defecation-Free and currently constructing a small town water system for Mandari Community which is expected to be completed this year by September.
