A senior communication team member with the National Democratic Congress Party in the Bole-Bamboi constituency of the Savannah Region has called on the Bole District Assembly to ensure that newly commissioned projects in the District are up and running.
Mr Augustine said it is unacceptable that “new projects are commissioned but still locked up.”
Speaking to Yagbon News in an interview, the communicator noted that new projects such as the Bole Community Centre, Rural Technology Facility, (RTF), Office of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority, (DVLA), Warehouse and the ICT resource centre have all become white elephant projects though completed and commissioned.
“So much money has been invested in these projects and yet not a single activity is going on in any of them” , he told Yagbon News.
According to him these projects which were executed with the aim of improving the living conditions of residents of Bole does not understand why the facilities are not operational for people to access them.
He argued that The 1992 Constitution of the Republic of Ghana, in Article 240, tasks them, the local government authorities (Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies — MMDAs) to plan, initiate, co-ordinate, manage and execute policies in respect of all matters affecting the people within their areas as well as exercise political and administrative authority in the District, provide guidance, give direction to, and supervise the other administrative authorities and be responsible for the overall development of the District.
He therefore called on the Bole District Assembly to be accountable to the people of Bole by ensuring that the taxpayers money doesn’t go wasted.
